Documentary Jack Sels (1922-1970)
This documentary about the legendary jazz saxophonist and composer Jack Sels (1922-1970) is the result of a research project conducted by Marike Van Dijk and Jan Dewilde in 2016 within the research group Lab XIX & XX of the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp (AP Hogeschool): 'Jack Sels (1922-1970), the "white negro" of the docks.'

Philippe Cortens interviewed Hugo Camps, Josse De Pauw and Will Tura, gathered together archival material and realized this documentary.

The documentary ends with a recording of five songs by Sels by (former) students from the Conservatories of Antwerp and Ghent, in particular Hanne De Backer (sax), Jeroen Thomas (piano), Kobe Boon (bass) and Mathias Vercammen (drums ). They play: For you my love, I'm so scared or girls when they are good looking, On stage, Rain on the grand place and You've changed my life completely.
